Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) – Medi-Cal Diabetes Prevention Program (Medi-Cal DPP)California state law requires DHCS to establish the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) as a Medi-Cal covered benefit. Medi-Cal's DPP benefit will be consistent with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) guidelines and will also incorporate many components of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' DPP in Medicare.
- California Department of Education – Type 2 Diabetes Information
The California Department of Education developed this type 2 diabetes information in collaboration with the California Department of Public Health, American Diabetes Association, California School Nurses Organization, and Children's Hospital of Orange County. - The CalPERS DPP is designed to slow and prevent type 2 diabetes among CalPERS members who have prediabetes. All CalPERS health plans offer the National DPP at no cost to eligible members.

The report was required by Chapter 108, Statutes of 2016 (Assembly Bill No. 2696). Chapter 108, Statues 2016 required CDPH to submit a report to the Legislature that includes a summary and compilation of recommendations on diabetes prevention and management. The report also summarizes relevant findings and recommendations on diabetes prevention and management that are available in existing grants and publications.

This CDPH action plan is the result of several years of collective work to identify the most efficient and effective steps for combating diabetes and enabling Californians to live healthier lives. The purpose of this action plan is to address the rising prevalence of diabetes in California through increased awareness, availability, and utilization of evidence-based diabetes prevention programs by Californians with prediabetes or at high risk for developing diabetes.
