Tobacco Product Waste
Over the past decade, Californians have increasingly become aware of environmental pollution caused by tobacco product waste (TPW), particularly from cigarette butts. This White Paper, developed by the San Diego State Research Foundation, the Public Health Law Center, the University of California, San Francisco, School of Nursing, and the University of California, Merced, School of Engineering aims to provide California policymakers, advocates, and the public with comprehensive information about what is known about the environmental and social impacts of TPW, the activities of the tobacco industry in response to TPW concerns, and potential solutions to the environmental problems of TPW.
